Zoom Class with Wendy Moore
"Kimono Imperial Ornament"
This delightfully sophisticated ornament finishes as a 4”x4” Mini-Kimono. As an ornament,
this kimono highlights a beautiful Bargello pattern in Imperial gold, red, and blue. Using DMC
Floche, Kreinik metallics, DMC & ThreadworX over-dyed floss, and a few beads, this kimono will make an
impression. You will explore how wonderfully the Bargello pattern fits into the kimono and
stitch a unique variation of an octagonal Rhodes stitch. The kit will include the canvas,
all the threads and beads, instructions and photos. Student will provide 8” stretcher bars
(2 pair), laying tool, frame or frame weight, usual stitching supplies, and light and magnification
if desired.

We will have our Annual Meeting with the election of officers for 2024-2026 as well as

own ideas in color and stitch interpretations.

Chapter News
Please welcome our newest member – Deb Damrell.
From our Outreach Chair, Kathryn Lord –- Pequot Colony Stitchers, down on the shoreline,
has arranged with the Groton Public Library to mount a display of CRVC work in April 2024.
It will be installed on April 1, 2024 and uninstalled on April 30, 2024. Anyone interested in
lending their work for this exhibit is urged to let Stephanie Thorp
(stephthorp@sbcglobal.net) know asap, and either to send
your items to her (1227 Flanders Road, Mystic, CT 06355) or to Thistle Needleworks in Wethersfield, CT
where Stephanie will plan to pick them up by March 25, 2024.
Please also send the following information to Kathryn Lord (hglord@cox.net)
by March 1, 2024 so that she can make up the cards that will go with the displayed items.
- Stitcher's name
- Title of the piece, if there is one
- Designer's name, if known
- Publisher's information.
- Whether or not the piece was an EGA project.
Also please note that there is not suitable space for large pieces. Anything smaller than
(horizontal) 18x12 or (vertical) 12x18 should work. It would be nice to show a variety of
techniques as well as a variety of purposes; e.g., a couple of pillows, bookmarks, wall
displays...we're very versatile!
After the exhibit has been dismantled, Stephanie will send your work back to you if you mailed it
to her, or return it to Thistle Needleworks if that's where she picked it up.
From our ByLaws Chair, Kathryn Lord -- By now you should have received three emails
about the bylaws – one describing the process of approval and the few substantive changes
that the 2023 revision contains, another with the attached full document that got left off the
first email, and a third to establish a discussion specific email thread. If you have not received
these, please check in your spam/junk folder, and if not there, contact Kathryn Lord at
hglord@cox.net for a re-send.
This is a mandated review that only happens once a decade, and requires the approval of the
membership. We’re doing it via email since we won’t have an in-person meeting before the
end of the year, when it’s all due back at National for their final blessing.
From our Nominating Committee -- It is that time of year that we are looking for volunteers.
Please contact any board member if you are interested!!! We will elect officers for 2024-2026 at
our annual meeting in April 2024. If you are interested in filling one of the following positions,
please contact any of the board members: President, Vice-President (Program), Vice-President
(Membership), Secretary, Treasurer, NER delegate. Board members' contact information is on
our website.
New England Region News
The New England Region has a new website! It is spiffy and easy to navigate. Check it out
at www.ner-ega.org.
Save the Date! After a hiatus of a few years the NER Region Day is back, Saturday, April 27,
2024, at the Plymouth Church in Framingham, MA. Plans are for a morning speaker, lunch, and
choice of 3-4 small classes in the afternoon. More information coming in early January. Region
Day is always fun and informative, and a chance to catch up with far-flung friends.
