"Zelda the Zebra" with Toni Gerdes
Zelda is an exuberant Patchwork Zebra with her stripes of many
colors. The jewel tone color palette makes Zelda exquisite. Zelda's "false" eyelashes will
have her flirting with you. Several Rainbow Gallery metallics, Caron threads, Straw Silk, and Planet
Earth Threads, along with beautiful beads, will be used to create her captivating design. The stitches
will include old favorites, as well as a few surprises. The background will be a white-on-white diagonal
pattern that emphasizes the design and enhances Zelda's whimsical personality.

CRVC Display
It's never too early to start thinking about which of your pieces you'd like to see in our next display,
which will be November 2025 in the main branch of the Granby (CT) Public Library.
The theme this time around is Favorite Techniques. Sure, we enjoy learning new things, but
we all have a favorite (or two) that we return to again and again, be it canvas work, blackwork, Japanese,
surface embroidery, ribbon, beading, or cross stitch. At our first display in Granby 14 years ago,
we had examples of 26 techniques!
We'll be collecting pieces in October and returning them in early December. Drop-off and pick-up
options will be publicized in September.
America's Tapestry

Have you heard about America's Tapestry? The Connecticut Panel
is now being worked on in Suffield by members of the Pioneer Valley Chapter who live in CT, and will
be there until the end of June. If you are interested in working on it there, please contact
Sue Polumbo at BigGregP@aol.com.
In July, it will return to West Hartford, where you can volunteer to stitch on it. If you would
like to work on it in Wethersfield, we can arrange for it to be at
Thistle Needleworks for a week or two
during the summer. If so inclined, please contact Judie at
JudieStichr@aol.com.
In September, it will go to Fairfield County for additional stitching. The design may be rendered
in cross-stitch, crewel stitches, applique, or the technique of your choosing which you feel will best work
best for the motif(s) you stitch upon.
The stitching area of the Connecticut Panel is approximately 36" x 48".
