Acorns Past -- click for an enlarged viewAcorns Past is an embellished Spanish stitch sampler developed from documented seventeenth century samplers. The majority of samplers from this era were first stitched in double running or Spanish stitch, then embellished with stitches over the base stitching. This sampler has been embellished with stitches used during the seventeenth century. Although the model is stitched on Congress cloth, the student may substitute another fabric and/or thread, if desired. Details will be given in the student's letter. A solid knowledge of the double running stitch is required to complete the 30 hours of pre-work.

By the completion of this course, the student will have stitched a Blackwork sampler in the 17th century style and embellished the double running sampler with a choice of stitches used during the 17th century.
